Seventh Annual MMA Master Teaching Competition
Sponsored by Hormel Foods
We seek nominations (or self-nominations ) of marketing faculty members who exhibit evidence of teaching excellence. The first place winner will receive a $500 cash prize, funded by Hormel Foods Corporation, and be named the "2009 Hormel Master Teacher" by the Marketing Management Association.
Based on the written submissions from participants, up to ten people will be identified as recipients of "2009 Hormel Meritorious Teaching " awards and will be so recognized in the MMA Conference program. Among these people, the top three will become finalists for the 2009 MMA Master Teacher Award and will be notified of their selection in February of 2009. Each of these three will be presented with a "2009 Hormel Teaching Excellence" award at the conference. On Wednesday, March 18th, 2009, each of these three finalists will make a 15-20 minute presentation/mini-teaching demonstration of their submitted successful teaching activity to attendees and the judges at the MMA Spring 2009 conference. One of these three finalists will be selected as "The 2009 Hormel Master Teacher ," recognized at the MMA Spring Conference Awards Brunch on Thursday, March 19th, 2009, and invited to prepare an article for the Journal for Advancement of Marketing Education.
To be considered for any of these awards, individuals must submit six copies of the following materials (using at least 1" margins, 12 font size print, single spacing is acceptable):
- Letter of application (3 page maximum) on university/college letterhead noting:
- places and dates served/serving as a marketing teacher,
- list of all marketing courses taught
- summation of supporting evidence of teaching excellence, honors, and/or student assessment results, and
- contact information (office & home phone numbers and mail & e-mail addresses)
- Condensed curriculum vitae (3 page maximum)
- Summary of a single successful teaching activity, practice, innovation, or strategy employed (3 page maximum)
Those people nominated by others will be contacted directly by the Chair of the Marketing Teaching Awards Competition and informed of these guidelines. The final deadline for the RECEIPT of all documents will be announced soon. Nominations and / or materials should be submitted to:
