Teaching

  • Assessment of Learning Outcomes
  • Pedagogical styles for particular marketing courses
  • Management techniques for group projects
  • The use of teaching portfolios as a self-evaluation technique
  • Computer assisted instruction
  • Distance and web-based instructional techniques
  • Management techniques for case analyses

Research

  • Research impacts on tenure, promotion, and compensation
  • Discussion of new quantitative tools with an emphasis on how to employ these tools and when they might best be applied
  • Predictions on research topics that are likely to be highly publishable
  • Issues associated with student involvement in research
  • The impact of textbooks and research monographs on tenure, promotion, and compensation
  • Procedures for writing and signing contracts for textbooks
  • Role of private/consulting research in tenure, promotion, compensation, and mobility

Service

  • Impacts of service to the profession on tenure, promotion, compensation, and mobility
  • The administrative route: is it worth the headaches?
  • Service to the university as it impacts tenure, promotion, compensation, and mobility
  • What constitutes service and why it is important
  • Should faculty be actively involved in departmental, college, and university development activities?

To Submit a Paper to the Refereed Papers Track:

Empirical or conceptual/theoretical papers in the broad areas of teaching, research, and service are welcome for the conference. More specifically, papers addressing one or more of the suggested topics above are of particular interest. The deadline to submit papers is August 22, 2008.

To Submit a Conference Panel Proposal or Position Paper:

Panel Topics: Create your own panel or be placed on a panel with those of similar interests. Submit all panel proposals by August 22, 2008.

Publication in the Proceedings: Submit your position paper/ abstract on your session topic by August 22, 2008. To confirm your place in the proceedings, paid registrations should also be received by August 22. At least one author must register for and attend the conference. There is a limit of two papers per author. Any extensions will need to be approved by our Proceedings Manager, Marie Steinhoff.

Format of Submissions : All position papers should include the title of the paper; full names, titles, departments, and institutions or organizations of all authors/proposers. Include mailing addresses, phone numbers, fax numbers, and e-mail addresses for each. The position paper is limited to two pages. Submit a hard copy as well as a disk with a file of the paper in Microsoft Word or WordPerfect. An e-mail attachment is also acceptable.

How to Submit: Send all submissions to Marie Steinhoff, Department of Management and Marketing, Southeast Missouri State University. Position papers should be sent first class mail or by e-mail attachment in Microsoft Word or WordPerfect.
